Motive manufactured two of the 9.2m modular reels for our client in 2021 and were contracted at the end of 2023 to complete the transfer of 6700mtr of spare inter array and export cables from the client vessel onto the Motive reels on the quayside, for storage and transportation on to a long-term storage facility.

Operations were completed over 4 separate cycles, with Motive providing full project and site management throughout. Our team of 8 multi-disciplined technicians and a dedicated site manager provided build-up of the reels, site planning, and transpooling operations at the quayside, supported by an office-based team providing logistics and planning.

Motive offers everything necessary for efficient cable handling scopes, in this case a comprehensive equipment package was supplied that included our expert team to cover all transpooling operations and full project management.

Not only completing the transpooling very efficiently, our reels also deliver a streamlined process for spare cable storage that allows rapid mobilisation in the event of a cable repair.

With a commitment beyond completion approach, Motive is with our clients every step of the way. In this case aftercare will include maintenance services such as turning of the reel every 6 months, and recertification of rigging and lift points.
