Team Motive supports Cornhill Highland Games for another year running

Motive have always been committed to our local community and having started out the company from a base in Cornhill, we are proud to be long-term sponsors of the annual Cornhill Highland Games, which celebrated their 22nd year this June. It was the second year in the hands of the new committee, led by Motive Director and Committee chairman James Gregg.

A family friendly event, the Games have something to keep everyone entertained, from massed pipes and drums, highland dancing and a variety of heavy events throughout the afternoon.

The day kicks off with a highland dancing competition and one of the highlights of the day is the tug of war event in which Cornhill’s very own team participate. Motive began sponsoring the Cornhill Tug of War team last year, and James is now a team member, joining them regularly for training sessions.

Strongly associated with the Games is the famous Knock Hill Race started in 1970 to fund the Cornhill playing field. The race is a tough one, over road and hill and sees runners from all over the North East come to tackle the 8.5 miles which must be completed within 1 hour 45 minutes to earn a certificate. 2020 will be a special celebration as the race takes place for the fiftieth year running.

Shortly following the Games day the committee host a fundraising Burns Supper. The date for the 23rd Highland Games has been set for Saturday 6th June 2020. See the Cornhill Games website for more details.
