The firm, which was launched in 2010 by James Gregg and Dave Acton, specialises in the manufacturing and rental of high capacity winches, wire rope spooling and inspection, umbilical deployment equipment and specialised subsea equipment, and has experienced exceptional growth in the last three years.

The firm now has 81 employees and recently launched its fully operational base in Stavanger, Norway operating as Motive Offshore Services AS and has also opened a sales office in Aberdeen, to accommodate an increase in client demand. James has over 14 years of industry experience, and established Motive to provide high quality marine equipment and services, with a specific focus on customer service and people development.

It is a fantastic achievement to be announced as a finalist at the Grampian Awards for Business Excellence this year. Although this award recognises my achievements as an entrepreneur, it is a real team effort at Motive, and the business would not be where it is without everyone’s hard work. We have a strong focus on people development and the whole team has been instrumental in the success of Motive. This nomination will give the whole organisation a major boost, as we continue to grow and expand.
