This month sees Motive expand fabrication services at its main site in Boyndie, Aberdeenshire, securing a key appointment to manage the division.

Colin Forsyth has been appointed as General Manager to oversee Motive Fabrication, with the expansion enabling Motive to supply an enhanced fabrication service.

A large amount of Motive’s fabrication work is set to be based out of UK ports, including Peterhead, Aberdeen, Montrose and Blyth in Northumberland.

Mr Forsyth brings 35 years of engineering and fabrication experience in the oil & gas and marine industries.

The team at Motive has fantastic experience already in building deck machinery to a high standard of workmanship, personally having worked alongside some of the Motive workforce previously, I know we have the skill set to enhance our service provision profile to our clients. Offering turnkey fabrication packages and sea-fastening services will simplify logistical movements of hire equipment and provide potential cost savings to our clients.

Motive has a very skilled workforce which adapts easily to challenges. Concentrating fabrication services at the Boyndie base will open up new opportunities for Motive, and my experience in dealing with fast reaction vessel work scopes and close working relationships with clients will be beneficial as we grow the fabrication side of the business.

- Colin Forsyth, General Manager @ Motive Fabrication

Motive currently employs 85 staff across the group, having created more than 20 local jobs in the past year.

The team at Boyndie is already highly experienced in marine fabrication and the expansion is set to bring an increase in staff at the headquarters near Banff to accommodate incoming fabrication work.

Motive is known in the industry for its expertise in manufacturing winches and will now be able to design and build grillages to support equipment on vessels, complementing its current offering and giving clients a more rounded fabrication service.

Delivering fabrication from Boyndie improves efficiency and offers our client base a more cost-effective solution to their fabrication needs, ensuring that we can enhance the service we are offering them. We already have marine engineering and fabrication skills in-house and Colin’s input and expertise will be a huge benefit to both our team and our clients.
