Motive drives CSR initiative across NE

Motive has continually supported its local community through good and bad times and is encouraging other businesses to give something back.

Breakfast Club 600x400

Motive has recently agreed to sponsor an initiative at Macduff Primary School which supports local parents with childcare and helps to enhance the children’s learning ability while supporting families who may be struggling financially.

The Breakfast Club has been set up so pupils can be dropped off earlier and ensures that the children are given free childcare and a healthy meal to start their day. The initiative is supported by Aberdeenshire Council, but schools have to source match funding and Motive has stepped in to allow the club to run for a second year by sponsoring the food for 2019.

It is just one of many projects that Motive has supported as part of its drive to help its local community and charities in the North-east and, since launching in 2010, Motive has raised more than £26,000.

Sponsoring Macduff Primary’s Breakfast Club is a small effort for really worthwhile results. The club is a superb idea to support all local parents with a little extra childcare in the morning to help them to get to work on time. It also means that every pupil that uses the initiative can have a good, healthy breakfast to set them up for the day.

As a business, we have always been driven to encourage our team to get involved with our fundraising and community efforts. Our staff are our biggest asset and we have always believed in giving our employees the opportunity to support and motivate each other outside of work as it has proven to strengthen professional relationships within the team. Even during our toughest times, we have supported many North-east charities and local initiatives and teams, and we encourage all businesses to do the same. Any support, large or small, can help others in need whilst allowing your staff to give something back to the communities that they work in.

- Dave Acton, Director @ Motive Offshore

We launched The Breakfast Club last year as we were aware there was some poverty in Macduff and we wanted to reach out to families and offer help. Every penny counts for these families so offering free childcare and a good breakfast to every single pupil has been well received so we had to continue into 2019. On average we have around 45 pupils who use the club regularly and we have a great working relationship with local people and businesses, such as Motive, which helps us to support the local economy and our local children and parents.

Motive has always encouraged its team to raise money and support local causes, even in its most difficult times in business.

As a team, Motive’s staff have signed up for the Aberdeen Kilt Walk in June to raise funds for Erskine, which offers respite and care for veterans. Later in September Dave is set to take on the Ben Nevis Braveheart Triathlon to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.
