350Te Spooling Winch drives operational efficiency
06 AUGUST 2024
We are delighted to announce the successful completion and handover of another of several major engineering work scopes currently underway at the Motive facility in Boyndie (Scotland).
In May, we shared news of the Motive Engineering contract award from Briggs Marine for a bespoke integrated 350Te Spooling Winch package, designed to enhance operational flexibility for future renewables projects.
In close collaboration with our client, the Spooling Winch solution offered a beneficial alternative to the conventional Reel Drive System originally considered. Not only delivering significant time and cost savings for the project in hand, the end product will enable more rapid mobilisation, and with less transport demands.
Delivered within a challenging 22-week build schedule from PO award to successful completion and load out, special design features of the custom 350Te Spooling Winch include:
- Twin electric motor and pump configuration enabling optimal operational performance in the most demanding of offshore scenarios
- 350Te capacity offshore rated with operational vessel accelerations considered in accordance with DNV ship rules
- Modular design allowing the deployment of reels over 10m diameter
With a smaller manufacturing carbon footprint and features such as a central control system minimising operator/personnel requirements and standalone control cabin for operator safety and comfort, the spooler embodies Motive's commitment to safety, efficiency and ESG principles, with a strong emphasis on sustainable design.
Our team's dedication and expertise have truly shone through in this achievement, as we continue to deliver innovative solutions for our clients.
