Thanks to our growth plans for the US and America’s regions, we are now hiring for an Equipment Operator/Inspection Technician for our Americas region.
This role will involve both onshore and offshore work patterns and the individual is responsible for performing and supporting on-site inspection services, load testing of Client assets and product change-outs, that may include the commissioning and operating of equipment in a safe, competent and professional manner, ensuring effective communication is maintained between various stakeholders, including but not limited to, the Client, Third Parties and internal “Motive” departments.
About the team:
Reporting into our Technical Lead, John, you’ll be able to lay claim to being one of the early key players of Motive Offshore in the US & Americas, helping us define how we move forward and deliver for our clients & our people. Our small team in the US are based out of Houston and may only be a few strong, but we’re growing and want great people to be a part of that.
And you’ll be working alongside a committed and proud Motive team in the UK and globally that want to play their part in the growth of the business and support each other daily to create a positive, values driven and hard-working professional environment.
Responsibilities:
- Adopting the Motive Offshore Group People Values and ensuring their use is embedded throughout day-to-day tasks and decision making.
- To attend project briefings & de-briefings.
- To attend Client inductions/HIRA’s as and when required.
- To complete online Client inductions and training as and when required.
- To participate in internal and external training courses where identified.

- To liaise and build rapport with the Client whilst at the worksite.
- Perform inspections services and tasks, including but not limited to, Wire Rope Management, EMAG, LOLER Inspections, NDT (MPI, ECT, LPI & UT)
- Perform Client asset load testing services,
- Support Client product removal and/or change-outs such as, crane wires, umbilical,
- Stocktake equipment on arrival at worksite, communicating any anomalies and or damage to the Client, Motive Technical Lead (on site) and Operations Lead.
- Commission equipment at worksite and perform load test operations as per the Client requirements, completing all necessary paperwork.
- Operate equipment, including Spoolers, in accordance with approved procedures in order to meet Client requirements, ensuring all daily checks and paperwork are completed.
- Working in the workshop on occasion to support mob/demob of equipment.
- Complete required onsite paperwork such as post installation checks & maintenance records.
- Complete Daily Client Service Record (DCSR) sheets in full, with accurate times and descriptions obtaining signed approval from the client.
- Demobilise equipment at the worksite and prepare for shipping, completing any necessary cargo manifests.
- Hand in project paperwork and expenses to Operations Lead in a timely manner post project.
- Adherence to Client safe working practices and quality assurance systems.
- HSEQ – compliance with health, safety and environmental regulations, and the company’s management system.
- Develop strong working relations with key stake-holders – clients, colleagues etc.
- To be a positive ambassador for Motive Offshore Group Ltd.
Required skills / knowledge:
- Where applicable Suitable NDT certification (SNT or PCN Level II).
- Offshore certification.

We are currently hiring for a Workshop Technician for our Certification & Inspection (C&I) team, based at our workshop in Kintore.
In this role, you the Workshop Technician will provide operational support to Motive Certification and Inspection to ensure smooth transition and running of active jobs and verify that all tasks are completed as per the Work in Progress list. This is a important role for the business, as we look to expand our services within the (C&I) team and the Workshop Technician will ensure all work is carried out, in compliance with relevant HSEQ guidelines, to help us do that.

You’ll be joining team, which has grown significantly over the past eight years since it became part of the Motive brand and is now a mainstay in what we offer our clients. And it continues to expand. Reporting into Steve, our Workshop Manager, you’ll be working alongside a team that covers off the technical aspects of projects offshore and all over the world, along with a dedicated team behind the scenes who make sure the operations of this department run smoothly, safely and with a smile.

Required skills/knowledge:
- Similar experience of managing operations within a busy mechanical and/or engineering-based workshop.

- Forklift experience with B1 – B3, Counterbalance Forklift Truck Operator level desired if possible, or a willingness to obtain.

- Use agreed specifications to determine project schedules from start to finish, incorporating all engineering and technical activities required to complete equipment by required mobilisation date.
- Manage & lead the workshop & offshore staff to ensure engineering projects are completed to specification and on time.
- Monitor project costs, designs and specifications and prepare update reports for management.
- Hold regular progress meetings with the workshop teams to ensure workload is scheduled according to priority and preventative maintenance is completed.
- Represent the company at client meetings to discuss specifications, progress and problems if any arise.
- Ensure that accurate information is communicated to clients.
- Liaise with third party contractors to ensure full compliance with the specific requirements of a project and manage contractors when on site.
- Liaise with Sales teams on contract extensions, also ensuring VOR’s and contracts are updated both internally and externally.
- Assist with cost analysis during quotation phases for all projects.
- Ensure all projects are delivered as per the client’s expectations, inclusive of supplying personnel with sufficient training.
- Tracking utilisation of equipment and personnel
- Overall responsibility of condition of equipment when leaving for a project, including certification.
- Ensure accurate project information is provided to the Finance Department in a timely manner to allow for invoicing and accurate month end cost requirements.
- Where required assist with debt recovery and invoice payment.
Required Skills/Knowledge:
- Significant experience of leading multiple projects in the Marine and/or Oil & Gas sectors
- Strong technical experience of mechanical & rental equipment is highly preferred.
- Good communication skills with the ability to build strong, working relationships, internal and external to the organisation.

- Travel on an ad hoc basis to support HSEQ activities across Motive’s operational locations.
- Manage the revision, control, and distribution of management system documentation.
- Create, update, and maintain HSEQ forms to ensure consistency and relevance.
- Prepare and distribute KPI reports to monitor HSEQ performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with relevant departments to organise and track planned preventative maintenance schedules.
- Partner with the Learning & Development (L&D) team to develop and deliver HSEQ training programs.
- Maintain and update the Non-Conformance and Action Tracking System to ensure timely resolution of issues.
- Stay informed about relevant legislation and industry standards, ensuring compliance at all times.
- Support other departments with bid proposals, completion of external provider evaluation questionnaires, and document control as required.
- Proactively reduce risks and ensure compliance with health and safety legislation through risk assessments, trend analysis, and effective communication.
- Conduct, review, and update risk assessments, COSHH assessments, and associated data sheets on an annual basis or as needed.
- Assist in fostering innovation and building a resilient infrastructure through identifying HSEQ excellence which may contribute to Product/Process improvement (Goal 9 (UN SDG))
Required skills / knowledge:
- NEBOSH advantageous but not essential
- Experience in Management Systems BS EN ISO 9001, BS EN ISO 14001 and BS EN ISO45001.
- Good knowledge of current Health, Safety and Environmental Protection Legislation.
- Experience in incident and NCR investigation and root cause analysis
- Experience in internal and external auditing
- Experience in HSEQ project management advantageous
- Good presentation skills and the ability to deliver training for the requirements of the current Health & Safety Legislation.
- The ability to influence and communicate effectively with all levels of staff.
- Good report writing skills.
- Good computer literacy.
- Self-motivated and ability to work under pressure.
- Assertive with meticulous attention to detail.
